It was the beginning of monsoon in the month of June, me and Nandin hit the road towards Kathmandu. We both planned this trip to Kathmandu from India by road on a two-wheeler. We did all the research before hitting the road and we both were aware of the consequences of a single driver and long distant still we both agreed to rock & roll as we both always look for alternatives for travelling to add more thrill and make it pocket friendly. And going on a motorbike was very cost-effective for us however motorbike reduced our transportation cost by 80%.
Ranchi To Patna
We both started with all the essential like an energy bar, water, raincoat, and all other essentials in a rucksack backpack with only limited and important items, we don’t want to make it heavy because of course, we were riding a bike, less carrier space, in the morning at 9 we started moving toward Patna from Ranchi.
While crossing Jharkhand we experience the amazing beauty of jungle mountains and rivers. There were few dams in our path which were extremely beautiful. We both were very happy coz it was our first long drive to another country. We were riding through the Mountains between the jungle and on an up and down the road.
After 10 hours of the long drive, we covered 350 KM to reach Patna from Ranchi with a few little halt for snacks and restroom. I prebooked a hotel in Patna from MakeMyTrip for our convenience of not hopping for a stay after 10 hours long ride coz we were tired but had full energy for the next day ride to Kathmandu, Nepal
After a thriller day one ride we were ready at 5 in the morning to leave our hotel and head up towards India Nepal border, but we both were unaware of the super thrill was waiting for us, we were unaware of roads which are going to slow us down and takes 20 hours to cover 400 KM.
Patna To Kathmandu
Day second was sunny and hot, we had our breakfast after a few hours of the ride in a roadside stall and with light breakfast, we started moving toward India Nepal border. After 7 hours of the ride we have to reach the border but the last district of India, Raxol was a nightmare for us coz the road was in under-construction state fill with muddy rainwater added 3 hours extra in our journey. It’s taken us 10 hours to Reach board.
View of the country border work as an energy source for us, we were excited to finish our immigration part and move towards the land of Buddha. It took 30 minutes to complete our paperwork and we left for Kathmandu But wait, the super thrill is not over yet.
Nandini was guiding me the way with the help of navigation and even I was checking the signboard for Kathmandu. We got confused when we saw a signboard which showing two different ways to reach Kathmandu, left 240 KM and straight 80 KM, and of course in the hurry of reaching Kathmandu we took 80 KM road.
”There is no shortcut to success” it took us 10 hours to cover that 80 KM road. That road was through mountains and had rocks stones all over the road, that road was destroyed by the 2015 earthquake. There was no house no light it was all empty. We cannot see any other vehicle in that way, we were just following our motorcycle headlight.
That 10 hours ride was the longest ride and longest night of our journey. The road was not allowing us to move more than 5 KM/Hr. The only best part of that journey was the sky which is full of stars. After 20 hours of straight journey, we finally reached our home at 2 AM in the night.
Kathmandu
We enjoyed our 4 days stay in Kathmandu which includes exploring stupa’s, hiking, nightlife, the local market and lots of food. Food is very amazing for none vegetarians. And the best part is people are very sweet and kind.
I thanks Nandini for becoming brave on this trip and I thanks all the people who show the direction whenever we were lost the way.
I recommend you to take a rode trip to Nepal it’s amazing with stunning views of mountains. You can read all information about Kathmandu
